I did find a lily beetle today but on our Crown Imperials. You can usually
guarantee that they will be in bloom for Easter (whenever it falls) and even
though it was a struggle with this year's low temperatures they still just
about made it.
Seemingly they are also known as Tears of Mary which refers to the large
drops of nectar at the base of each petal - Christian tradition tells that,
of all the flowers, only the proud crown imperial refused to bow its head at
the crucifixion - but it has bowed and wept ever since.
