Our next meeting
*** OUR NEXT MEETING ***
Thursday 9 May 2019
7:30pm in Gilling West Village Hall
All about the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust... and how to make your garden wildlife-friendly
with Steve Ashton
Our local wildlife has suffered some pretty severe setbacks over the last century, but there are dedicated people out there doing their best to preserve our fabulous natural heritage.
The Tees Valley Wildlife Trust manages 15 nature reserves, including Hardwick Dene, with its wildflower meadows and rare butterflies, and Hunt Cliff, with its nesting kittiwakes, cormorants and fulmars. Great destinations for a day out on or around the North East coast!
Steve will be talking about the Trust's work, and giving us a few tips about how we can give wildlife a helping hand in our own back gardens.
Members free, non-members always very welcome at just £3.
***Coming Soon ***
Sunday 23 June 2019
coach leaves Gilling West Village Hall at 12:30pm
by popular request, a trip to the
Himalayan Gardens and Sculpture Park
Cost £10, guests welcome.
To book your ticket email Glenys on firstname.lastname@example.org or call her on 01833 621905.
Based in the charming village of Gilling West, just five minutes from Scotch Corner, we offer a lively programme of events, activities and visits for everyone interested in gardens and gardening.
Even if you're a complete novice - or don't have a garden at all - everyone's always very welcome at our meetings.
In fact Gilling Gardening Society is not just for gardeners! We have plenty of meetings that are of general interest - this year, for example, we'll be hearing about the work of the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust, taking a trip to the Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park and finding out all about the amazing world of carnivorous plants.
If you want to stock your borders or your greenhouse, members usually bring along a selection of seedlings, rooted cuttings and mature plants - yours for a modest contribution to Society funds!
Annual membership costs just £10, and visitors are always welcome to join us for just £3 per meeting (talks) or £4 (practical sessions) on the door.
